Farewell Mike Berry

Farewell Mike Berry

On January 29th Ozark Border Electric Cooperative bids farewell to retiring lineman Mike Berry.  Mike started as a journeyman lineman in 1984.  He has worked as a crew foreman and has been a service foreman since 1994.  After 37 years Mike can still recall his first day of work.  Another lineman, Bill Mansfield, introduced himself and shook his hand and made him feel at home. Being immediately welcomed into the OBEC family left an impression on Mike that led him to greet and shake the hand of every new hire since then.  Mike says, “I will miss all the people I have worked with over the years, but I won’t miss the phone calls during all hours of the night and holidays, especially when the weather is bad.” Mike intends to spend his retirement days working on projects around the house, traveling to see his grandchildren and camping whenever possible.  If he puts in as much effort enjoying his retirement as he did serving OBEC, it is sure to be a success! We all will miss Mike dearly and wish him a long and happy retirement.
