Darnell Celebrating 40 Years of Service

Celebrating 40 Years of Service

At Ozark Border Electric Cooperative, we realize that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are delighted to recognize Greg Darnell for 40 years of dedicated service and commitment to this organization.

Greg began his career at OBEC as a 4th year apprentice lineman in 1979.  “We didn’t have bucket trucks and the tools that we have now”, Greg remembers.  “I would never have thought we would be reading, connecting and disconnecting meters from the office.”  Greg has worked many outages during his 40 years but says one of his favorite memories of the job was of a Thanksgiving snowstorm.  After working for two days with little rest and not much to eat a member brought him some wild turkey breast.  He says it was the best thing he ever ate!  Greg credits his long career at Ozark Border to getting to work with great people.

Ozark Border has been fortunate to have such a pleasant, hardworking and reliable employee for the last forty years and look forward to several more.  Please join us in congratulating Greg on this magnificent achievement.
